General Description
Hosteria Kaiken is in the state of Tierra del Fuego, on the shores of Fagnano lake, in the midst of beautiful ?nires? forests and surrounded by the Andes mountains.
It was built in the sixties, as a point of refuge and refueling half way between Rio Grande and Ushuaia, on National Route N° 3, and is very attractive for tourists due to its wonderful sights, trekking trails and salmon fishing. Closed for several years, Kaiken was totally renewed and now offers its comfortable and updated services, while it maintains its character of being the most beautiful and traditional place in the heart of Tierra del Fuego.
This ?heart of the island? was where the Shelk’nam natives found refuge during the winter, living in the forests and seeking food and clothing from herds of ?guanacos? which still today inhabit in the area.

Hosteria Kaiken has two elegant saloons in which you will be able to taste our local and international food, enjoying in the meanwhile the great sights of the lake and mountains.  
If you prefer a drink, we invite you to Oiken, our bar beside the fireplace. Here, as in every corner of Kaiken, you will be delighted with a wonderful sunset on the Fagnano lake.
Only 5 km. away from Kaiken is the town of Tolhuin (1800 inhabitants), which means ?with the shape of a heart?, founded in 1972.
